All the course units are available for you to look over when you log in.  The course assessments will start with Unit 1 then 2 and so on.  If you are not classroom based, you will be a distant learner.  Depending on which program you chose you can complete the units at your own pace. Your tutor will set deadlines when the assessments are due for submission.

Your portfolio of work throughout the course will include questionnaire assessmentscase studies, slide presentation – individual or group activitiesobservation sheets and audio from your skills practice and reflection (diary) on how you are progressing as a listener each week. There is no exam.

Read the information in the Learner informationthis will give you information about the course assessment criteria and the units that you will be completing, it also includes the guidelines that you are expected to follow and includes Life Pregnancy Matters policies and procedures

The process:

  1. Firstly, watch the Learning Book presentation of the unit that you will be completing. This will give you the resources on the course unit so that you can answer the assessment questions and add to your Guided learning time. Some slides may contain activities for you to complete, these activities give you examples and help to give you further understanding of the unit. All activities need to be signeddated and submitted. All videos contained within the slides are there to give you a visual explanation on each question, please take notes while you watch the video to help you complete the assessments, you can watch the videos as many times as you wish.

i) There are numbers throughout the course materials(1.1, 1.2, 1.3). These numbers are for you to follow the marking criteria when completing assessments. When you are completing assignments, you should include as much information as you can to meet the criteria. Read the assessment guidance for more information about the marking criteria.

ii) Distant learner; complete all questions in the PowerPoint slides to add to your portfolio.  You can use the blank document included to do this. Clearly state the unit and question you are answering.

  1. Read all the pdf handouts on the Unit resources pages that accompany each unit. They add to your Guided Learning Hours and add further reading to the PowerPoint which will help you with completing assessments. You should, however, do further research to follow the guidelines of recommended Learning Hours.
  2. Answer all the assessment questions; it is suggested that the learner adds further research on the topic to complement the handouts provided. This will help make your assignments more robust.
  3. If you are submitting an audio to accompany your core skills, then sign the disclaimer which can be found in the Learner Information Pack and submit with the audio.
  4. Lastly, complete the candidate submission statement; which will require you to sign and date all assessments completed, include the activities and PowerPoint questions for the unit before submission.  Assessments that are not signed will be returned as incomplete.

If you are unsure of any of the procedures above, whether you are a distant learner or classroombased learner you can speak to the assessor during the agreed weekly contact time for further clarification.
