James completes 50-mile challenge for Life!

This Saturday, James walked 50 miles in 20 hours, raising nearly £660 for Life.

At 3:15am, James set off from Stratford-upon-Avon in the Life Link One region, following the Stratford Canal up to its end in south Birmingham. That was 25 miles. Then, he turned around and walked back again, finishing his 50 miles at just after 9pm!

James says:

This was probably the most exhausting physical thing I’ve ever done, but I’m very proud for having done it. I also love that a welcoming committee of Stratford friends of Life came out to meet me for the last mile. They came out in the pouring rain to find me and encourage me across the finish line. It was such a kind gesture. In the picture above you can see me, warm inside after finishing, with their hand-made cards to say congratulations.

But, even more importantly, this is £660 raised for Life’s services helping women in crisis pregnancies considering abortion. Many of them have longer and more arduous journeys than 50 miles in 20 hours, but Life is with them every step of the way. Life’s impact is only increasing and this is down to YOU – you who support Life and make this work possible. Thank you.

Thanks Helen! My feet were really aching, but it was surprising how quickly they recovered ... I was walking around mostly normally after a couple of days. The blisters took time to heal, though 😉

Well done James. What a fantastic thing to do. I was going to say what a fantastic feat but thinking of your feet they must have been aching / stinging / killing you!!
