A unique national programme to support men, women and families affected by baby loss.
Baby Loss Matters was developed in 2018 in response to a greatly increased number of women who are looking for support following an abortion or miscarriage. It has been developed as a resource primarily for the church to help parishioners affected by such loss, be they parents, grandparents, single women and those outside the church. Abortion and miscarriage continue to be sensitive subject areas and churches are often the last place the people affected by such a loss, would turn to. We want to change that by providing churches with a major community outreach tool to meet women and families where they are, and to give church leaders the confidence to address the issue of baby loss from the pulpit.
Parish priests who are concerned about the pastoral implications of addressing abortion and baby loss from the front, have informed us that Baby Loss Matters is a sensitive and effective way of engaging with people who have had abortions, as well as those who have lost children through miscarriage or soon after birth.
