There’s something for everyone at Life, so take a look at our current volunteer roles. Once you’ve found one you like – or if you’d like to make a general enquiry – fill out our volunteer interest form to start your volunteer journey.

You’ll hear from our volunteer team

Once we’ve received your volunteer interest form, our Volunteering team will drop you an email to set up a call. In this call we’ll share more about what we do, our values, and advise you how best to get started and get involved in Life’s work.

Meet your team and get stuck in!

Once you’ve been accepted by us as a volunteer, you’ll be given everything you need and introduced to your manager. For some roles you may need specific training, which we’ll provide. Now it’s time to go out there, meet your team, make friends, and make a difference!

Volunteering FAQ

It’s normal to have questions before starting something new. We’ve answered some of the most common ones below. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, then please contact us using the queries form on our contact us page or email volunteering@lifecharity.org.uk.

If you’re interested in volunteering with Life, let us know by filling out our volunteer interest form.

Once we’ve received your volunteer interest form, our volunteer team will drop you an email to arrange a call. In the call, we’ll listen to what you want to get out of volunteering, share more about Life, and talk about your next steps.

Once we’ve approved you as a volunteer, you’ll receive our volunteer information and get introduced to your manager. Your role may also need specific training or further checks. Assuming all goes well, it’s then time for you to get stuck in!

Nope! If you’re interested in volunteering with Life, but don’t know which volunteer role you’d like, let us know when you fill out our volunteer interest form. We’ll work with you to match you up to the right role for you.

That’s okay! We’ll chat about your availability before you start any role to make arrangements that work for both you and Life (and we’re a flexible bunch).

If you don’t feel you tick every box for a volunteer role but are sure it’s the one for you, please drop us a message on volunteering@lifecharity.org.uk and tell us why. We’re open to suggestions and happy to chat with you to find out what’s possible!

You should hear back from us within two weeks. If you still haven’t heard from us, please email us at volunteering@lifecharity.org.uk as we value all our volunteers and don’t want anything to slip between the cracks!

Yes, we can reimburse reasonable expenses. Make sure to pre-agree your expenses with your volunteer manager – this helps us to make sure our funds are appropriately allocated and that we’re helping as many people as possible. If you don’t pre-agree your expenses with your manager, we can’t guarantee that you’ll be reimbursed.

We try our best to have volunteer roles and events in as many areas as possible. However, we’re a small team so some areas might not have many roles or events available for the moment.

However, if you’ve got a suggestion for a role or event, let us know by emailing us at volunteering@lifecharity.org.uk.

Yes! If you don’t like a volunteer role, let us know and we can discuss suitable alternatives.

We’d love to hear from you! It’s wonderful to know what we’re doing right and it’s wonderful to know what we can improve.
