We use an application form instead of accepting CVs because we operate under a set of principles known as Safer Recruitment. These principles are designed to safeguard vulnerable adults and children.
This requires a bit more from you but means we ensure the safety of all our clients and staff!
Even though you’ll need to fill out an application form, don’t worry – you’ll be able to cut and paste a lot of this from your CV.
Stand out by linking your motivation and experience for the role
Part of Safer Recruitment is understanding more about you. As you go through the application form, tell us why you’re interested in the role and how you think your experience will be relevant. Linking your motivation for your interest in the role and why you think your skills make you a good candidate is really where you get to stand out from the rest. Don’t be shy, and feel free to brag!
Be comprehensive
Without a CV, it’s vital that you provide enough information for us to make a decision regarding shortlisting.
Yes. Due to safeguarding commitments, we ask for referee details. However, we’ll never contact your referees without your permission.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a screening call which will ideally take place on Microsoft Teams. As part of Safer Recruitment, all meetings take place with at least two members of Life Charity staff present at all times.
From there final interviews are arranged. These will always be in person where possible and have two Life staff present as per Safer Recruitment guidelines.
We try to ensure that if you’re selected for screening, that you receive an outcome, whether it’s positive or perhaps the end of the recruitment process.
We can’t reply to every application but you’re welcome to apply again in future.

Housing & Community Support: Safe accommodation for mums and babies in our network of 19 Life Houses.
Practical Help: Free pregnancy tests, baby supplies, and resources for those in need.
In 2024 alone, we supported 24,477 people through pregnancy or pregnancy loss. Every month, hundreds of women find safety and hope through our services.
166 mums and babies housed in an average month who would otherwise be homeless or at risk.
269 people received counselling and skilled listening in August 2025.
1,460 free pregnancy tests provided in one month, helping women access early support.
